Best Practices
Performance Optimization
- Cache Responses: Cache AI responses to avoid repeated API calls
- Batch Requests: Combine multiple requests when possible
- Use Appropriate Models: Choose the right model for your use case
- Implement Rate Limiting: Respect API rate limits
Cost Management
- Monitor Usage: Track API usage and costs
- Optimize Prompts: Write efficient prompts to reduce token usage
- Use Caching: Cache responses to avoid duplicate requests
- Set Limits: Implement usage limits for users
Security
- Validate Inputs: Sanitize user inputs before sending to AI
- Handle Errors: Implement proper error handling
- Protect API Keys: Never expose API keys in client-side code
- Content Filtering: Implement content filtering for AI outputs
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
Q: AI responses are inconsistent A: Try:- Adjusting the temperature parameter
- Using more specific prompts
- Providing more context in the conversation
- Request queuing
- Exponential backoff
- User rate limiting
- Caching
- Using faster models for simple tasks
- Implementing response caching
- Reducing prompt length
- Using streaming for long responses
- Fine-tuning the moderation prompts
- Using different models
- Implementing custom rules
- Combining multiple moderation approaches
